For those who want to venture away from trail centres and experience more natural trails. This ride is aimed at the intermediate mountain biker, for those who want a big day out in the mountains. The technical challenge is there but depends largely on speed and there no stress about walking sections if needed. We will always ride as group, no-one is left behind! Be prepared for the all types of weather and a solid day in the saddle. Though a good level of fitness is required, this is not a fast day out, time is taken where necessary to absorb your surroundings and the natural  features that this area has to offer.

Based in the South Lakes, accessible from Ambleside and Hawkeshead, this Langdale and Loughrigg loop is not to be missed. You will experience long climbs to terrific views, complimented by rocky and fun descents to keep you entertained. You will probably never want to ride a trail centre again!

Bike

You will need your own mountain bike in full working order. A hardtail or an XC/Trail orientated full suspension is most suitable. If your bike hasn’t been serviced for a while please take it to your local bike shop for a service 2-3 weeks prior to attending the day. Tyres should be trail orientated, niether heavy downhill tyres, nor super light weight cross country tyres, vulnerable to rocks.

Equipment

Helmet and gloves are mandatory, you cannot ride without them. Knee pads are not essential but if you’re more comfortable with them then please wear them. Please have an appropriate waterproof, a windproof isn’t substantial enough out on the hills. Shoes/pedals: flats or lipless, whatever you are most comfortable with. Spare inner tube for your own bike. And a spare rear mech hanger, contact your local bike shop that stocks your brand. Brake pads.
